KATC, the E.W. Scripps ABC affiliate station in Lafayette, Louisiana is looking for a Director III to support our station operations for a defined period; working in assigned areas of news broadcast production and technical directing. This position is fast paced, directing complex newscasts and other local programming as well as supporting and assisting in the completion of pre-production for newscasts with a focus on local community. WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Direct or technical direct assigned newscasts with minimal amount of errors.
Coordinate preparation and broadcast of newscasts with production staff.
Prepare studio and resources for newscast.
Work with the producer before and during each newscast to create on-air product.
Suggest camera shots, graphics and other production elements.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of equipment used in production of our newscasts.
Manage and maintain all aspects of automation, including coding and functions.
Develop and distribute backup procedures to all directors.
Assist in maintaining all broadcast equipment within control room.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
High school diploma required. Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
3 years related broadcast experience in a director role required.
Must have previous multi-camera directing experience preferably in television news with control room automation.
Proficient knowledge in all areas of broadcast production and direction:

Knowledge of video production systems.
Knowledge of newsroom computer systems.
Knowledge of automation systems.
Knowledge of studio lighting board.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
Ability to formulate, block and direct newscasts.
Ability to lead and support broadcast staff

Must have the ability to direct fast-paced, rapidly changing productions for extended periods.
A comprehensive working knowledge of state-of-the-art video switchers and effects.
Working knowledge of state-of-the-art video switchers and effects.
Proficient with the operation of routers, video servers, audio consoles, robotic studio cameras, graphics systems and studio production equipment
Ability to work effectively in an environment including multiple video and computer monitors.
Effective professional communication and people skills
Strong computer skills.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds.
