WGNO NEWS is looking for the right candidate to join us as a Sports MMJ-Photographer. The New Orleans market is one of the top sports markets in the United States. We have several professional and college teams of national prominence in our viewing market.
WGNO is also home to Friday Night Football, which is entering its 31st season of coverage in 2022. It is hands down the BEST high school football show in the nation.
We also produce a weekly sports show called SportsZone.
You must be a storyteller who is committed to being creative across ALL platforms, every day. You should be good at cultivating sources to win BIG stories. You must have strong storytelling skills and an energetic/creative delivery live in the field and in studio.
The successful candidate will shoot and edit with the Sports Director, report as a Sports MMJ, and fill in as sports anchor. You will also assist in producing a daily sportscast.
This full-time position will take someone who can excel in this digital age of journalism. The successful candidate will report, shoot, write, edit and produce for TV, web and our social platforms.
Experience:
Two years’ experience anchoring or reporting sports for television.Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
Requirements:
Responsibilities:
• Produce a daily sportscast.
• Shoot, write, and edit sports stories.
• Deliver sports stories in a clear and concise manner.
• Assist in the writing, editing, producing, photography, researching and production of sports content and shows.
• Strong on-air presence.
• Active on social media. Knowledge of social networks and ability to create digital content.
• Responds to breaking sports news and events and other situations as required.
• Travels as needed for sports coverage.
• Enterprises, develops and produces stories under strict deadline pressure.
• Coordinates with the digital team to make sure wgno.com and social media are properly updated.
Qualifications:
• Knowledge of ENG camera.
• Knowledge of editing (we use Adobe Premier).
• Producing knowledge and experience (we use ENPS).
• General knowledge of all Louisiana teams.
• Open to a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
• Must be available to travel to cover sports teams.
• Experience covering a professional sports team is helpful and not required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
