News 15, the FOX and NBC affiliate in Lafayette, LA has an immediate opening for Sports Director.

The Principle Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Anchor and produce the Sports segment of News15.
Gather, and relay sports information to the people of the Acadiana area.
Be available to host/anchor/report sports stories in supplemental programs or special reports.
Add production value to shows through graphics, live shots, etc.
Write sports stories for on-air, online, and for social media.
Must have the ability to think outside the box and cover non-traditional sports and sports stories that may pull more viewers into the sports segment while not alienating the traditional sports viewer.
Proof read stories for fact checks, spelling errors and grammatical mistakes from other members of the Sports Department.
Receive and answer phone calls from viewers in a professional manner.
Represent the station at community events such as parades, station sponsored events, speeches at schools or to various organizations, etc.
Be available for various promotional shoots
 

Education and Experience: College degree is required.  Major in journalism, broadcasting, communications, or another related field is preferred.   Minimum 4 years’ experience in TV news with at least two years in a Producer or other leadership role. 

Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (subject to any medical or religious accommodations or other applicable law).
